Annual Giving

Through The Annual Fund, the University’s annual giving program, you can designate your gift to benefit the school or academic program of your choice. Or you can allocate your gift to Marshall University’s Greatest Needs, where it will be used for immediate needs such as merit scholarships, undergraduate research support, and graduate fellowships, faculty hiring and retention, career networking, and admissions programs.

The Annual Fund raises unrestricted funds for the University’s Greatest Needs as well as for individual colleges. This annual program runs with the University’s fiscal year (July 1 through June 30). The Annual Fund regularly seeks gifts through a student-staffed telephone outreach program, mail appeals, and online giving.

Annual Fund dollars go to the areas of greatest need on campus such as general scholarships, library materials, student activities, multicultural programs, campus technology upgrades, and so much more. Annual Fund contributions designated to an individual college help support a variety of projects including guest lectures, department scholarships, student travel, faculty development, classroom equipment, and student/faculty research.

Only a portion of the cost of educating each student is paid for by tuition and state funding; for the rest, the university relies on private support from alumni and others. Marshall depends on gifts from alumni, parents, friends, and the Marshall community to give students the quality, well-rounded educational experience that has always been its focus.
